Walter Trees Oral History, Part 3
During the 1930s, Walter Trees worked in the education department at Garner State Park. Speaking with a TPWD interviewer on July 10, 2003, he relates that his duties as the carpentry shop teacher grew to include installing electricity. After only one quick lesson in wiring from the local power-and-light company, Trees and some recruits upgraded the camp's lighting—from one light bulb per barracks to a light operated by a switch and an outlet at each bunk.
