Intake Tower Construction, Tyler State Park, c. 1940

The masonry crew of Company 2888 built this 43-foot tall intake tower, measuring 13' 6" at the base and 10' at the top. It has a cast-iron slide gate at the bottom with a lifting mechanism on top and is used to raise and lower the lake level by controlling the flow of water through the box culvert visible in the foreground.
