Tyler Bath House and Diving Tower, Tyler State Park, 2008
Architect Joe C. Lair's bath house provides symmetrical stairways to the lake. A terrace provides a horizontal frame of the view beyond. The diving tower, also designed by Lair, was originally conceived and constructed as a platform with a separate, circular diving tower at the far end, on axis with both the bath house and combination building. Shortly after the park opened in 1939, park staff removed the tower because of the danger posed by the possibility of diving into the shallow lake.
