Refectory, Palmetto State Park, 2008
A recent photo of the refectory captures one of a trio of portals on the front façade of the building and illustrates the architectural richness of the building—the stepped back sandstone walls creating depth and the jambs constructed of massive, adzed timbers and matching brackets. On the other side of the central pavilion is the terrace, enclosed by a retaining wall, overlooking the San Marcos River.
