Russell Cashion Oral History
On March 30, 2003, during the 70th anniversary celebration of the CCC held at Bastrop State Park, TPWD interviewers spoke with Russell Cashion who had worked at Cleburne State Park from 1936-1939. Cashion speaks candidly about the hardships of the Great Depression—especially his life in a sharecropping family and the lack of employment outside of agricultural work—and about surprising "luxuries" in the CCC.
