Boat House and Dock, Lake Corpus Christi State Park, c. 1936
An attractive original focus for the park, the boat house and dock appear high enough to be out of harm's way. Nevertheless, the entire structure was submerged when the decision was made to impound more water to meet the growing needs of the City of Corpus Christi. In place when the park was constructed, Fruta Dam was replaced in 1958 by a dam constructed 1,000 feet downstream and twenty feet higher, sealing the fate of this structure.
