CCC Company 849 Group Photo, Lake Brownwood State Park, c. 1937
A hardworking and proud masonry crew from Company 849 poses for a photograph of this pièce de résistance construction feat at Lake Brownwood. Above them is the lookout shelter atop the stairway; below, the pier to the lake. Local residents recall that during WWII, this pier would become a destination for boats ferrying soldiers and their dates to the park for an evening of dancing at the combination building.
