Completed Construction, Indian Lodge, 1935
By the end of July 1935, Company 879 had completed its work on this impressive structure, planted the desert landscaping, and fine graded and cleaned up the site. Receiving credit for one of the largest and most complex buildings constructed by the CCC in Texas was architect William C. Caldwell. He designed and prepared construction plans on site and worked closely with the field personnel. He also designed all of the lodge furniture, which the CCC built at its Bastrop State Park furniture shop.
