At San Antonio City Hall, probably in 1932 as the Great Depression worsened and voters considered U.S. Presidential candidate Franklin D. Roosevelt's "New Deal," citizens gathered to demand jobs and perhaps listen to progressive county tax collector Maury Maverick.
