Minimal Mealtime in a Rural Household, 1935
The image was labeled by an unidentified Farm Security Administration photographer: "Christmas dinner, consisting of potatoes, cabbage and pie, in the home of Earl Pauley, near Smithland, Iowa." Families living on small farms in the 1930s often had minimal resources. This family lives in tight and sparsely furnished quarters and has relatively little food to eat.
