CCC Camp, Davis Mountains State Park, 1933
The men in CCC Companies 879 and 881 arrived at the park on June 15, 1933. The first duties for the men was to establish the camp in Keesey Canyon, then set up tents to house and feed the 400 plus men and their supervisors. The sleeping tents each housed eight men. In the ensuing months the townspeople of Fort Davis adopted various "tents" and offered the young men home cooked meals and a place to visit on weekends.
