Roof Restoration, Scenic Overlook #2, Bastrop State Park, 2006
After fire destroyed the timber and shake roof and its log columns, architect Arthur Fehr's 1935 Scenic Overlook #2 required repairs. With a grant from the National Park Service's Heritage Partnerships Program, TPWD master craftspeople followed the specifications of an historic architect to replace the roof true to Fehr's design. Although relatively small in scale, the repair to the shelter, a contributing feature to this National Historic Landmark, required a high-level of skill and oversight.
