Company 1856 has completed the pool walls. Enrollees are preparing to lay paving stones on the walkway and have begun work on the retaining wall. This view looks north across the area of the springs towards the deep end of the pool where the diving board will eventually be positioned. At the time the springs were flowing at a rate of between twenty-two and twenty-five million gallons per day. (Today the springs flow between fifteen and twenty million gallons per day.)
