OFF SCREEN: Did you pull any pranks on guys?

HILL: (laughs) Oh, boy! When I first went in there, they came in the first night I was there.

They had a habit, they'd come in there and take your bunk and just pick it up real quick and flip you upside down on the floor with the bunk on top of you.

We did that a long time, so when it came my turn, oh boy, I enjoyed that (laughs).

Now I go. (laughs) Then they would short-sheet you. They would take your sheets from one end of your bunk, they would take the top sheet and fold it back the other way and the other end the same way.

So either end you got in, you'd hit about the middle of it. On cold nights is when they did this. See, when it was so cold, you had to remake your bed and everything.

We'd come in from going to town at night—we'd come in late—and when we'd put out feet down in there, hit that. Oh! All the griping and complaining! We had to get up and fix our bunk.

So then they got to where they'd take a broom and saw the handle off and put the broom down there and the bristles toward you.

You stick your feet—(laughs). Oh, we had a ball. But it wasn't so good when they was doing it to me, but when it came to be my turn—oh, it was enjoyable then.
